Document work

Do you need the words, the layout, or the meaning of the numbers?

OCR recognizes text in an image. Conversion tries to create a usable output document. Structured extraction assigns meanings such as merchant, date and amount. Choose the operation that matches your outcome and verify important values.

Put the answer to work

Why can the words be right but the fields wrong?

Recognizing 4,000 does not establish whether it is a sale, deposit or balance. Structured fields require label and document context; review the meaning as well as the digits.

How WorkSpotHQ helps

Extract Text from PDF (OCR)

Use Extract text with the PDF when you need the words rather than the original layout. Review the extracted text against the source, especially tables, columns and numbers, before reusing it.

Extract Text from Image (OCR)

Use Image OCR on the clearest source image available. Check names, dates and digits in the extracted text. If the source is blurry, recapture it before relying on another reading.

Receipt Processor

In Receipt Processor, add the receipt and choose Process receipt. Compare the editable details with the image. Use Adjust crop if the edges are wrong, or Re-read automatically if another reading is needed. Choose Save to My Receipts after checking the values; use Send now only after reviewing the report and recipients.

Your next steps

  1. Use text extraction when you mainly need the words.
  2. Use PDF-to-Word when an editable document matters.
  3. Use a receipt workflow when you need expense fields, not just text.
  4. Check important content against the original, especially small digits and ambiguous labels.

What this looks like in practice

OCR can read both Amount 4000 and a much larger fuel pump counter. Understanding which number is the purchase requires the label and context, not just character recognition.

Illustrative guidance, not a measured accuracy result or a guarantee for every document.

From receipt text to financial meaning

These are actual local parser outputs from three fictional text inputs. They test interpretation after text recognition—not photo reading, OCR accuracy, or the complete upload workflow.
