Document work
The words survived. The table moved across the room.
Compare the converted document with the source before editing extensively. Fix missing or incorrect content first, then table structure, reading order and page layout. Visual similarity and convenient editing are different checks.

Fix the text or the layout first?
First confirm that all content survived. Then check reading order and table structure, and only then polish fonts and page breaks. A beautiful layout cannot compensate for a missing amount.
How WorkSpotHQ helps
PDF to Word
Open PDF to Word with a copy of the source PDF. After conversion, download and open the Word document in your editor. Compare the source alongside it and make a small edit before committing to a substantial rewrite.
Extract Text from PDF (OCR)
Use Extract text with the PDF when you need the words rather than the original layout. Review the extracted text against the source, especially tables, columns and numbers, before reusing it.
Your next steps
- Compare page count and locate any missing text or images.
- Check numeric cells, merged cells and multi-column reading order.
- Review fonts, margins, headers, footers and page breaks.
- Make a small edit and confirm that nearby content behaves sensibly.
What this looks like in practice
A hotel bill may look aligned while its amounts sit in separate text boxes rather than an editable table. Test a row edit before relying on it for a larger revision.
A fictional two-page supplier letter
| Item | Value or document | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Heading and address | Page 1: supplier name, date and postal address | Compare the text and reading order, not just the font. |
| Three-row price table | Quantity 2, rate 125.00, amount 250.00 | Edit a copy of one cell. Check that its row and neighbouring columns remain aligned. |
| Paragraph crossing a page | Last sentence continues on page 2 | Check both pages for missing or repeated words. |
| Final export | Revised Word document exported to PDF | Reopen that PDF and inspect page breaks before sending. |
A conversion passes this review only when the text is complete and the edits you actually need are practical. A visually similar page made of awkward fragments may still be unsuitable. Ask for the editable source if repairs outweigh the benefit.

A small, reproducible conversion check
We converted an existing fictional two-page test PDF with the local PDF-to-Word service in auto mode, then rendered the unedited Word output in LibreOffice. Both page labels remained readable on separate pages. This deliberately simple example checks native text and a page break—not tables, scanned pages, or complex layout fidelity.

Your practical test is harder: edit the sentence or table cell you need to change, then check nearby content and the final export. A successful conversion message does not establish that your document is ready to send.
Before you call it done
Avoid repeated conversion of an already converted file. If a complex layout remains unusable, rebuild the affected section or request the original editable document.
